Ashington Festival 2020

Sadly, the Ashington Festival in 2020 did not take place due to Covid19.

ASHINGTON FESTIVAL, A DATE FOR YOUR DIARY.

This year Ashington Festival falls on 15th August 2020 which coincidentally is also the 75th anniversary of VJ Day.  To help us mark this important date in history, we have the wonderful Diane James singing many of the WW11 songs we know so well.

The day will of course kick off with the Carnival Procession at 1.30pm led by the Medina Band, our Carnival Princess, attendants and page boys, along with other decorated floats.  There will be walking groups, a stilt walker and individuals in fancy dress parading through the village.  The carnival will be interspersed with vintage cars to add interest and colour.

As the carnival arrives on the recreation ground at approximately 2.30pm, they will be greeted by many different stalls, a car boot sale, a classic car show, a fun dog show sponsored by Arun Vets and of course our own Harris’s funfair.

The arena acts will include two shows by Galloping Acrobatics, a show of Equestrian Razzle Dazzle and a performance by the Medina Band.

There will be no shortage of food either, burgers, chips, hot dogs, Thai food, Pizzas, candy floss and ice cream to name but a few. There will also be a licenced bar.

On stage The Smileys will be back by popular request, Tom Foolery who is Ashington’s favourite children’s entertainer, Mike Nova AKA Elvis and Ken Dee, a comedy female impersonator.

There will be the usual grand Raffle with many top quality prizes and our famous Barrow of Booze.

Take the opportunity to meet up with old friends who have now left the village, but always come back to enjoy the Festival.

10pm is the spectacular firework display followed by a disco to finish off the evening.

Our programme is designed to have something for everyone to enjoy, be they young, old or in the middle.  So mark that diary, come along and enjoy the day with us.

The Ashington Festival Committee would like to thank all the sponsors and the helpers on the day who help to make it such a great success.

We look forward in seeing you all at the Festival next year for what we hope will be a fantastic day on Saturday 15th August 2020.
